THE OIL SECTOR COVERS THE EXPLORATION, EXTRACTION, REFINING AND TRANSPORT OF OIL
MENU
The oil industry is vital to many sectors. Due to the conditions required for various industrial processes, the demands placed on materials are extremely high. strict inspection processes are maintained at the highest standards, and therefore the non-destructive testing equipment used must also be of the highest quality.
OUR SOLUTIONS FOR THESE SEGMENTS
CORROSION MAPPING
Corrosion is one of the major problems in the oil industry. Proper inspection ensures process reliability and an adequate study of the remaining life of systems. Corrosion mapping inspection has become one of the main techniques in inspection procedures thanks to its ease of use, process optimization and reliability of results.
CORROSION UNDER INSULATED PIPING
Insulation is often necessary in the oil industry for certain applications. The problem is that if moisture penetrates the insulation, combined with high temperatures, corrosion is generated. Pipe inspection is therefore very important, and conventional techniques such as ultrasonic testing are an option, but they require a major investment because the insulation must be removed for inspection and then reinstalled. There is a much more efficient solution that does not require insulation removal: Pulsed Eddy Current.
STORAGE TANK INSPECTION
Storage tanks are fixed components found in oil plants. They must be inspected with the most efficient equipment because the time invested in tanks is considerable due to their size. There are two critical zones that must be inspected. First, the tank floor, where an MFL system is recommended to locate corroded areas, followed by a detailed ultrasonic inspection of those zones. The second critical area is the tank walls. For this, an ultrasonic system capable of performing scans is recommended, ideally with magnetic wheels to move along the walls and make inspection easier, avoiding the need to build scaffolding around the tanks.
