The CTS-409 is a portable electromagnetic ultrasonic instrument (known as “EMAT”) designed to be used without couplant or direct contact on magnetic metal materials. Regardless of the condition of the object surface, it can be applied to oxidized items such as oil pipes or aircraft parts.
Changing the probe angle does not affect the result. It offers an available measurement range of 2 to 300 mm and accuracy up to 0.01 mm. This instrument can also work on hot objects such as forged parts, radiators, etc.
What is it used for?
-To measure the thickness of metal or magnetic objects with surface roughness that could cause poor coupling for conventional ultrasonic transducers.
-To obtain accurate thickness data from the metal part beneath coatings such as rust, oxide or artificial coating materials.
-To work in special situations where there is an air gap or some obstacle trapped between the transducer and the metal object.
-Thickness measurement on high-temperature objects without data loss or damage: forged parts, radiators, heat exchangers (up to 300 ℃, intermittently up to 600 ℃).
-To allow measurement work to continue in extremely cold climates (down to -40 ℃).
